A Farm That Welcomes Visitors
De Gud Farm is not just a working farm - it is a place with a story worth telling and a landscape worth experiencing. We have been welcoming visitors to the farm for several years, hosting guided biodiversity walks with the Tracton Biodiversity Group and opening the farm to community groups and anyone with an interest in farming, nature and the Irish countryside.
This summer, De Gud Farm takes on a new role as one of a small number of ACE Demonstration Farms for the Arable Coast Environment Innovation Partnership - a €7 million initiative supporting arable farmers along the coasts of Cork, Waterford and Wexford to create habitat for farmland birds and wildlife. Farmers from across the region will visit De Gud Farm to see the ACE habitat measure in action and to learn how a working tillage farm and a thriving natural environment can exist side by side.
What a Visit to De Gud Farm Offers
Whether you come as part of an organised group or as a guest staying on the farm, a visit to De Gud Farm connects you directly with the reality of Irish Farming - not a performance of it, but the real thing.
You walk through fields of winter wheat and barley - the same barley supplied to the Malting Company of Ireland for the production of Jameson Irish Whiskey. You will see eight acres of wildflower wild bird, hunderds of native trees, and the stream valley and hedgerows that make this one of the most biodiverse working farms in south County Cork. You will hear the story of a family that is farming in this parish for six generations.
The Full Experience - Coming Soon
De Gud Farm is currently developing a full agri-tourism offering, including self-catering holiday accomodation in three converted farm building, a dedicated farm experience space, fine art classes with Lorraine Hogan Good, flower picking, and an extended Farm Bathing trail network connecting the farm to the south Cork coastline. These developments are subject to planning permission currently being sought from Cork County Council.
